25.08.04 Geri Halliwell to switch on Blackpool Illuminations
INTERNATIONAL chart-topper and former 'Spice Girl' Geri Halliwell has today been announced as the celebrity who will flick the switch to launch the 2004 Blackpool Illuminations. On Friday, September 3, BBC Radio Two will stage a spectacular show live from the resort fronted by presenter Mark Radcliffe. Joining Geri on stage will be record breaking boy band McFly, television's Fame Academy hit-maker Lemar, former Savage Garden lead singer Darren Hayes, 80's chart toppers Swing Out Sister and the cast of "Boogie Nights" starring Jimmy Osmond and Billy Pearce. The now legendary switch on ceremony will welcome a massive 15,000 revellers to a specially constructed arena opposite Coral Island. Blackpool Illuminations, this year celebrating "125 Electric Light Years", will shine nightly from September 3 until November 7.

Geri was spotted at last night's Madonna Re-Invention show in Earls Court. Along with pop princess Kylie, sister "Don't wanna loose this groove" Danii Minogue was there. Geri Halliwell was spotted with former Madonna dancer - and Geri's latest videos choreographer Luca Tommassini. George Michael, Macy Gray and Darren Hayes were also there - Darren was wearing a very pink T-shirt. Stella McCartney was also likely to be in the audience as she said a special hello to her friends who had come to suport her Stelly and Melly and also also everybody who she didn't know who had come to support her. More part of the family than a celebrity guest, Guy Ritchie also attended the London premiere.

pad before setting off for lunch with her manager and her mum.
Just compare that with Thursday night when she acted all bashful as she nipped out for some videos. The singer, accompanied by pet pooch Harry, tried to hide her face under her Chelsea FC cap. Still it’s not all quiet evenings in. Last night her old mates from Watford, Herts, turned up to take her out on the razzle.
