31.01.02 GERI HALLIWELL SLATED BY GERMAN
POPSTARS WINNERS From Ananova
German pop band Bro'Sis have launched an attack on Geri Halliwell.
They say the former Spice Girl is "a total witch".
Bro'Sis won the German version of Popstars.
Band member Giovanni told German magazine Maechen: "Geri Halliwell is one
of those people who acts like an angel in front of the camera, but when the
filming stops she turns into a total witch."
English band member and former Geri Halliwell fan Ross says he was similarly
disappointed by her attitude.
He said: "I spoke to her once. I said 'Hi, I'm Ross from Bro'Sis - the
German Popstars band.'
"I was about to try again when she turned and started to shout at me 'It's
terrible that anyone can be a pop star these days!'".
29.01.02 GERI TO REUNITE WITH SPICE? From MTV Asia
The Spice Girls have been offered US$1.4 million (£1 million) each to reform by
a British TV station.
The five-piece are being tempted with the cash by Channel 5, which used the girl
group to launch in 1997 and wants them back to celebrate its fifth birthday.
Geri Halliwell, who walked out of the band, would have to be part of any deal.
A source told British tabloid newspaper the Sunday People, "With the girls
back on board, they would create an unforgettable birthday bash for us.
"We're keeping our fingers crossed."
The group would perform a special one-off gig as well as appearing in TV, radio
and press promotions in the run up to the station's birthday weekend of March
29. -- WENN.
26.01.02 PUSHY GERI From Daily Telegraph- Thanks to Geri Italia and Chris
No business like the music business
Midem, which attracts thousands of wannabes, is the music industry's most
important event - and a very peculiar affair it is too. Neil McCormick reports
<snip>
Glenn Friedman, the American manager of in-demand producer Christian B, admits
that he missed a trick when he was grabbed in the lobby of the plush Carlton
Hotel by a short, animated blonde who wasted no time informing him that she
wanted to work with his protégé. "And you are?" Friedman inquired.
She was clearly taken aback by his question. "I'm Geri," she said. He
shrugged. "Geri Halliwell," she added. Still no sign of recognition.
"I was in the Spice Girls," she finally revealed, none too happy.
"What's with that woman?" Friedman later asked me. "I mean, she
looks cute, but, boy, is she pushy."
The Artist Formerly Known As Ginger was in town to perform and pick up the gong
for Chanson International at the NRJ Music Awards, a dubious French equivalent
of the Brits that conveniently coincides with the opening of Midem.

26.01.02 GERI HALLIWELL TO PERFORM AT CHARITY DINNER From Straitimes
FORMER Spice Girl Geri Halliwell will help raise funds for needy schoolchildren
in Singapore when she performs at a charity gala dinner here next month.
The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund is one of three charities that will
benefit from the $400,000 that the organisers of the Caltex Golfers With Heart
event hope to raise. The Breast Cancer Foundation and the Society for the
Physically Disabled are the other two.
Halliwell will give a 90-minute concert at the Feb 19 dinner, which is part of a
series of events leading up to the Caltex Singapore Masters and Charity Pro-Am
golf tournament from Feb 21 to 24.
The pop star will also be donating a mystery item for a charity auction at the
dinner.
In a video clip shown at a press conference to announce the concert yesterday,
she promised it would be 'something splendid, useful and practical... something
that can be hung'.
This is the second year oil giant Caltex has sponsored the tournament, which has
a purse of $1.6 million, the third-highest on the Asian Tour.
Top golfers, such as Ian Woosnam, Nick Faldo and Justin Rose, will be taking
part in the competition, which will be held at Laguna National Golf and Country
Club.
Caltex's general manager (brand), Mr Glenn Weckerlin, said: 'It is as important
to give back to the community as it is to put on an international sporting
event.'
The multinational company gave $50,000 to the ST School Pocket Money Fund last
year, and $30,000 the year before. Its donation this year will give the fund a
headstart in its annual fund-raising campaign, which resumes on Oct 1.
Motorists can help by buying a special-edition Sasha bear for $2 when they
purchase $20 worth of petrol at Caltex stations. They also stand to win three
pairs of tickets to the dinner and three pairs of VIP tickets to the finals of
the golf tournament.
Tickets for the dinner and concert, which will be held at the Ritz-Carlton
Millenia Singapore, are $6,000 or $10,000 for each table of 10, or $1,000 per
person.
To buy tickets, contact Diana Ling on 318-1254 or e-mail LingBN@caltex.com.
26.01.02 BRITS OVER, GERI From The Mirror
HER appearances at the Brits have always been a source of hilarious
entertainment for us.
Whether emerging from a giant female crotch, wandering the stage in a Union Jack
dress or kissing Robbie, Geri Halliwell stole the headlines (as planned).
So it is with tearful disappointment that we learn the ex-Spice Girl won't be
attending next month's ceremony. Despite nominations for Best British Female and
Best Single, she won't be at the Earls Court Arena but on stage in the Far East.
The date was set up months ago, when the thought of her being up for two gongs
would have been laughable. Her spokesman said: "It's in no way a snub, just
a clash." A crying shame.
25.01.02 GERI'S NEW PENTHOUSE From PeopleNews
Knightsbridge pad for former Spice
Geri Halliwell's long hunt for a house may be finally over. The gingery one
looks likely to join the Knightsbridge set, having reportedly viewed a
three-bedroom, £4 million penthouse in a road with a barrier at one end.
Security, of course, is a big issue for the former Spice Girl, who has been
jumpy ever since last summer, when a house she was renting in Notting Hill was
burgled. Since she left that home, Geri has camped at a number of friends'
houses, including those of interior designer Nina Campbell and Naomi Campbell.
25.01.02 GERI SINGLE AGAIN From PeopleNews
Back on the house and husband market
Geri Halliwell has split up from her boyfriend, Bobby Hashemi. 'They split up
over the Christmas period and are no longer an item,' said gingery Geri's
spokesman. Cynics might suggest that the relationship was doomed to fail: after
all, Hashemi has always claimed to be against serious relationships, while she
has admitted that her ideal man is 'probably gay'.
25.01.02 SPICE GIRLS SCOOTER PROMOTION 'FINE' RAISED ON APPEAL From Ananova
The Spice Girls will have to pay around £1 million after losing a legal battle
with a motor scooter company they had sued for £220,000.
Three judges at the Court of Appeal said the group had been guilty of
misrepresentation over Geri Halliwell's departure when they signed a contract
with Aprilia World Service.
They said the misrepresentation over the £500,000 sponsorship deal had had a
wider impact on the Italian-owned company than had been found by High Court
judge Mrs Justice Arden in August last year.
The Vice Chancellor, Sir Andrew Morritt, Lord Justice Chadwick and Lord Justice
Rix dismissed the Spice Girls' appeal and awarded Aprilia all its costs of the
hearings - plus increased damages - an estimated total of around £1 million.
The five members of the group had taken their case to the Court of Appeal,
arguing that they should have won their original claim for unpaid sponsorship
fees and guaranteed royalties on a special edition Spice Sonic scooter they
promoted.
They claim they signed the deal with Aprilia in March 1998 and Geri told of her
intention to leave the following month.
At first she said she would not be leaving until the end of an American tour in
September that year and this would have had no effect on the contract. But she
changed her mind and quit without warning in May.
The appeal judges found that the Spice Girls did know that Geri was leaving
before they signed the contract with Aprilia in May 1998.
Ian Mill QC, representing the Spice Girls, had told the appeal court that there
were no group discussions about Miss Halliwell's possible departure before the
Aprilia agreement had come into force.
When Aprilia refused to pay any more of the sponsorship contract, the Spice
Girls launched their legal action. They had claimed £100,000 in unpaid fees, £112,250
in guaranteed royalties on sales of the Sonic Spice scooter and £6,000 for
scooters promised to them.
23.01.02 GERI'S GOING INTO FILMS From MTVAsia
The music world was in mourning last night after Geri Halliwell revealed that
she is putting her music career on hold for a year.
But music's loss is movies gain as Geri announced that she is going to try and
do a Britney and break into the film world.
The pint-sized songstress revealed her news backstage at the NRJ awards in
France after incredibly winning best song for her cover of "It's Raining
Men."
She said, "I'm concentrating on nothing but acting this year. It's amazing
what Britney has done going into films. It's what I want to do." --

23.01.02 KYLIE TRIES 75 DRESSES FOR AWARDS (TO OUTSHINE GERI) From News.au
KYLIE Minogue is so determined to outshine pop rival Geri Halliwell at next
months Brit Awards that she has reportedly tried on 75 dresses.
Minogue has been hopping in and out of creations by different designers -
including Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Versace and Maria Grachvogel - in search of
a sensational dress to outdo the former Spice Girl.
"Kylie wants a phenomenal outfit to put Geri in the shade," an insider
told British newspaper the Daily Mail.
Minogue wore a see-through chiffon blouse and micro-mini skirt to last weekend's
NRJ music awards in Cannes but was upstaged by Halliwell's Marilyn Monroe-style
white evening gown and stole.
23.01.02 GERI PUTS FIRST AWARD IN THE LOO! From MTVAsia
British singer Geri Halliwell is so proud to get an award for the first time in
her solo career, she's put it in her toilet.
The former Spice Girl's single "It's Raining Men" was named Best
International Song at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France, on Saturday.
And Geri says she's so happy to have won the prestigious prize, she intends to
give it pride of place in her most private room.
She says, "I'm so incredibly happy! I'm gonna put it in my toilet, so that
every morning, when I go to the toilet, I'll be able to kiss it. I'm really
happy. Thank you France." -- WENN.
23.01.02 BRITNEY, GERI & KYLIE AT FRENCH MUSIC AWARDS From Mtv.co.uk
The annual NRJ Awards took place in Cannes, France over the weekend and featured
performances by Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Dido and Geri Halliwell.
Dido picked up two awards; Best Album for 'No Angel' and Best Newcomer, just
days after being removed from the Best Newcomer category at next month’s Brit
Awards after organisers realised she was not eligible for the award. Listeners
of French pop radio network NRJ choose the winners.
J-Lo was named Best International Female, beating out Kylie and Mariah, while
Michael Jackson beat out Robbie Williams to win Best International Male. Geri
Halliwell won Best Song for 'It’s Raining Men' and showed her appreciation by
sporting a see-through dress and flashing her knickers through her performance.
Geri the revealed plans to put music to one side and focus on getting into
movies. "In 2002 all I want to do is films. I'm concentrating on nothing
but acting this year. It's amazing what Britney has done going into films. It's
what I want to do," she revealed backstage.
23.01.02 CANNES CAN QUEENS From The Mirror
Pop divas Geri Halliwell, Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears get a big kick
performing at the NRJ music awards - although one's planning a bigger step in a
totally different direction.
Ex-Ginger Spice Geri, 29, revealed she is putting her music on hold for a year
to try to break into movies.
"In 2002 all I want to do is films," she said backstage at Cannes'
Palais de Festivals after winning best song for her cover of It's Raining Men.
"I'm concentrating on nothing but acting this year.
"It's amazing what Britney has done going into films. It's what I want to
do."
Last year was disastrous for Geri. Her album Scream If You Want To Go Faster
reached just number eight. Her last single, Calling, limped in at No 7.
23.01.02 KYLIE, GERI SHINE AT FRENCH POP AWARDS From MTVAsia
Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue and Geri Halliwell wore their best frocks for the
French NRJ Music Awards on Saturday night -- stunning the screaming crowds.
The pop beauties all performed at the lavish awards bash in Cannes, with Spears
wearing a leg revealing purple number, Geri donning the movie star look in a
white silky dress and Kylie looking ravishing next to her model boyfriend James
Gooding.
However, Halliwell was the only one of the trio to walk away from the bash with
an award -- she received the Best International Song gong for her "Bridget
Jones's Diary" song "It's Raining Men." -- WENN.
23.01.02 GERI IN SECOND BOOK DEAL From MTVAsia
Geri Halliwell has signed a deal to release her second autobiography -- which
will detail her most recent flings.
According to British newspaper The Sunday People, the singer will reveal all
about her flings with Robbie Williams and Chris Evans.
An insider for publishers Ebury says, "It will take over where Geri's last
autobiography 'If Only' left off.
"She has promised to tell what really happened during her two-week
relationship with Chris Evanas and her summer love with Robbie Williams on
holiday."
He adds, "It's going to be no-holds-barred because Robbie humiliated her by
speaking to a magazine about her recently and Chris treated her very badly when
they went out together.
"The book will also cover her falling out with George Michael and the
trauma of having her flat burgled." -- WENN.
21.01.02 GERI WON BEST SONG OF THE YEAR AT NRJ AWARDS From BBC and Yahoo!
Former Spice Girl Halliwell went on to swoop best song of the year with ``It's
Raining Men'' which she performed barefoot in an eyebrow raising show as the
petite star gyrated on stage in little more than a pair of underwear.
It was not the first time Halliwell has made a splash at the NRJ awards in
Cannes. Two years ago, she thrilled fans in a transparent green dress.
Former Spice Girl Halliwell also performed - barefoot and skimpily-dressed - as
well as scooping best song of the year with It's Raining Men, originally a UK
hit for the Weather Girls in 1984.

11.01.02 GERI CONVINCES IN 2D From People News
Who won yesterday's PeopleNews poll?
Who would you most like to see made into a comic character? Top of the poll with
37% of the PeopleNews readers' votes is Geri 'Human Twig' Halliwell, a woman
whose movement to two dimensions would, after all, be hardly noticeable. In
second place with 33% came mumbly singer Macy Gray. Curiously enough, Macy
actually does have her own idiosyncratic cartoon show in the US. Least popular
to appear alongside Dennis the Menace, Gnasher and co is Robbie Williams, who
collected 30%. Maybe he could get a job stealing 'Demonic Little Girl' Geri's
dinner money....
09.01.02 GET STUFFED GERI From The Mirror
IT'S EARLY days but George Michael is already a contender for our coveted Man Of
The Year Award.
The superstar singer had us in stitches with his hilarious festive prank at the
expense of his former friend Geri Halliwell.
It was last May when The Mirror exclusively revealed the once-inseparable pals
had stopped speaking to each other, after George decided he wanted the former
Ginger Spice out of his life for good.
But, clearly, the thought of ambitious Ms Halliwell still amuses George.
Imagine the scene on Christmas Eve when a huge parcel arrived at London home of
Nina Campbell, the friend with whom 29-year-old Geri is temporarily residing.
Excitedly, Geri rushed to see what the gift was. When she saw that George had
sent it, she must have thought he was ready to heal their rift...
But her smiles turned to tears when she realised that the old wag had sent a
massive Harrods hamper - bursting with fattening festive goodies such as pates,
caviare, cheeses, a shank of lamb and hundreds of Belgian chocolate truffles.
Once she dried her eyes, shocked Geri decided to give away the calorific
contents to friends.
"It was a wickedly funny thing for George to do," one of Geri's chums
told us. "Geri lives with constant temptation and it takes an enormous
amount of discipline for her to resist fattening food.
"As soon as she saw the hamper, she knew she had to get rid of it - and, er,
fast. A lot of us are still laughing. But Geri wasn't too thrilled."
So fixated is the yoga-loving singer with her slim-line physique that she has
even banned pals from munching fried food and cakes around her.
George, 37, tired of his wannabe chum after deciding she was using him to boost
her status and that she was obsessed with publicity.
Can't wait to see what gift Robbie Williams is planning for her birthday.
06.01.02 GERI ORDERS CHANGE TO MADAME TUSSAUDS WAXWORK From Ananova
Madame Tussaud's has been forced to postpone the unveiling of Geri Halliwell's
new waxwork because the singer says it is the wrong size. According to press
reports, Geri has had to have several sittings to be measured for the dummy
because she keeps losing weight. She has ordered changes to her bottom, thighs
and waist from her early clay impressions. The waxwork was set to be unveiled at
the London museum this month but now won't be ready until April, reports the
Sunday People.
03.01.02 A GERI BAD MOVE From THe Mirror
She finally thought she'd found the one thing she's always yearned for...true
love. But after just three months, we hear that Geri Halliwell's romance with
millionaire Bobby Hashemi is already on the rocks after a series of heated rows.
Pals say the couple could split for good after Geri, 29, suggested they should
set up home together. The idea went down like a cold cappuccino with super-rich
Bobby - founder of the Coffee Republic chain. He told her in no uncertain terms
that living under the same roof would be a "bad idea". Sources close
to Bobby, a former investment banker in New York who is worth £45million, say
that he's keen to hang on to his freedom and feels that moving in with Geri
would be a step too far. But Geri thought the timing was perfect as she is
currently living with her friend, designer Nina Campbell, while trying to sell
her £4.5m mansion in Middle Green, Bucks. Our perfectly-placed insider said:
"Bobby liked the slow pace of the relationship and was horrified that Geri
wanted to speed things up. Moving in together is a big step, especially as
they've only been together for three months. Bobby wants to see how things go
before making such a commitment. He's always been honest with his feelings and
will continue to speak his mind.". Last month the former Spice Girl went to
extraordinary lengths to impress her polo-playing beau. She took lessons in the
sport and visited Cowdray Park in Sussex several times to watch him and his
team, Java. The couple were introduced by Bobby's sister Sahar, who shares the
same yoga instructor as fitness fanatic Geri. But last year Bobby vowed never to
tie the knot, saying: "Marriage is the end of hope. It's not a good idea
for most successful people.". Geri has long been a loser in love. She has
dated Robbie Williams, Chris Evans and US basketball player Steve Nash but none
of those pairings have lasted. In fact, they've usually been written off as
cheap publicity stunts. In a recent interview Robbie admitted sleeping with Geri
but added: "She turned into a demonic little girl, playing with dolls and a
tea set. She also started speaking like a psychotic child."
