On a recent gym visit in London, stick-thin ginger gal Geri Halliwell posted a strong application for the position of most stroppy pop star on the planet. Attending an appointment with a beauty therapist, with her pet pooch Harry in tow, the yoga-loving star demanded that her bulky bodyguard accompany her while she had a facial. 
"I was desperately trying to control the dog and Geri made no effort to help at all," the therapist explained in the Mirror. "She was rude from the start. She kept telling me to get on with it, wouldn't look me in the eye and didn't even ask if Harry was allowed in. The minder glared at me the whole time and I was really intimidated by him. I was practically shaking because he was watching everything I did. He could have waited outside the door." Geri, like you, this behaviour ain’t big and it ain’t clever.

Hollywood reject Geri Halliwell still hasn't learnt any manners. Despite booking an appointment with a beauty therapist, the over-tanned yoga freak didn't bother to arrange a "baby-sitter" for her dog Harry. Waltzing into London gym Holmes Place, Geri, 29, let the mutt run amok, while demanding that her massive bodyguard accompany her while she had a facial. "I was desperately trying to control the dog and Geri made no effort to help at all," the therapist explains. "She was rude from the start. Bizarrely, the former Spice Girl goes to this particular gym because it offers her anonymity - well, everyone has a 6ft by 6ft bouncer when they go for a facial, don't they? And our perfectly-placed source sheds further doubt on Ms Halliwell's true age: "Her skin is really bad and shows her to be at least in her 30s. I'm amazed if she's as young as she says she is. "Geri was so rude and obnoxious I won't treat her again. The worst thing about it was that she didn't even tip! She has millions and caused a lot of problems, yet she wouldn't even give me a fiver for my trouble." Proving once again that money can't buy you class.

Disappointed England captain David Beckham has been named the top celebrity trendsetter. The soccer idol whose shaved head, mohican and fin hairstyles have inspired thousands of copycat looks, beat of competition from the likes of ex-Take That singer Robbie Williams. But red-faced Geri Halliwell was reckoned to be the biggest bandwagon jumper in the poll by a mobile phone firm. Beckham was recognised for his individual style, which has seen him wearing a sarong and having a Hindi approximation of his wife's name tattooed on his forearm. He was ranked ahead of runner-up Madonna and Robbie Williams who came in third place. Geri was judged to be a trend follower for developing her interest in yoga and Buddhism. The poll of more than 1,000 people found that Britons were more likely to have followed a trend to fit in than they would have five years ago. Many admitted to following trends themselves. Nearly a third (32%) admitted to having joined a gym to get in with the in-crowd and 31% said they have paid extra for clothes to make sure they had the right label. Phil Hendey, commercial director of One.Tel said: "Britain has always been regarded internationally as a nation of innovators, but this research is a wake-up call. "It's time for people to start thinking for themselves more. I think we'd all rather be David Beckham than Geri Halliwell."

June 21st, 2002 - From Spice Girl to Spy Girl
Geri Halliwell is in talks to play a secret agent in a film about life in Britain's secret service. The project would see the ex-Spice Girl play the lead in Semper Occultus - named ater MI6's motto, Always Secret. After reading the first draft, Geri's LA-based agents have apparently asked for a few script revisions before they agree. A source close to Geri said: "There's quite a buzz about this project and Geri is the person the producers want as the lead." Ex-Bros singer-turned-actor Luke Goss and Nick Moran have also been mentioned as possible villains. Sean Connery and Roger Moore have been approached to play the role of the head of MI6. Geri has had her sights set on acting for some time, and auditioned to play a Bond girl in Die Another Day. However, Ginger Spice lost out to Monster's Ball star Halle Berry.

June 20th, 2002 - Geri Attends UN Meeting in N.Y
Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, author Elie Wiesel and actresses Angelina Jolie and Susan Sarandon were among 50 of the United Nations' celebrity ambassadors who met on Tuesday to discuss their work for the organisation. UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan asked the New York meeting to "help us learn from you how the United Nations can make its message more effective". I don't know really the difference I've made - I know how it's changed my life Singer Harry Belafonte, a United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) goodwill ambassador, said that without the UN: "This planet would have long since become a great carbon mass". The two-day meeting is only the second time the celebrity ambassadors have met. Since 1954, when the late comedian Danny Kaye became the first goodwill ambassador for Unicef, many leading figures in the arts, literature and public life have travelled the world promoting the UN's work. There are now some 100 goodwill ambassadors, chosen by various UN agencies, and nine "Messengers of Peace" appointed by the UN secretary-general. The ambassadors first met October 2000, when Susan Sarandon, Geri Halliwell and Somali supermodel Waris Dirie discussed the difficulties of their roles in open session. But this year discussions were held behind closed doors and only the opening session, at which Annan and a few celebrities spoke, was open to the press. Harry Belafonte used the opening session to defend the UN from its detractors. "We have underestimated the power, and the evil will, of our adversaries," he said. "There are forces who are immoral, and those who would oppose us in what we do." And Belafonte urged the celebrities to use their platforms more effectively, and to do their jobs "with courage". "I know how it's changed my life and made me a better person. It's taught me to value my family more, to value life more, to value other people more." At a closed session, Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor Nobel Peace Prize winner, urged fellow celebrities never to forget the world's victims, UN officials said
